Civilization in Ruins
Tonight 11-year-old M. compared the social dynamics of the fall of the "queen" of the popular kids in her grade to the death of Augustus Caesar and the subsequent murderous turmoil of the Roman Empire. When I was in school I perceived them simply as "mean girls in pink sweaters who don't like me."

Based on this little snippet, I think your 11-year-old is capable of deeper thought than all of my 9th graders put together...:)
I love M! I have the privilege to know her in real life, and she's definitely one cool kid.
